The UK’s queen of cooking Nigella Lawson is coming to Melbourne for a School of Life event at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Quite possibly the only television chef whose passion for cooking makes her slightly uncomfortable to watch with your parents, Nigella is teaming up with Australian psychologist and social researcher Hugh Mackay to talk all things food and why it matters.
We all need food to survive of course, but one quick flick through the television or scroll through social media reveals how obsessed we all are with food. The food we eat is tied to our culture and identity: we celebrate with food, we console with food and we all know how much our food habits change when we’re stressed (hello all-you-can-eat pasta).
Nigella and Hugh will discuss how food is connected to who we are, our creativity and our morality. As the way we live changes so will the way we eat and Nigella will be sharing her thoughts on how food can be both therapeutic and symbolic. Her nosh know-how will be backed up by Hugh’s psychological expertise. Nigella has also just released a new cookbook At My Table which will be available for purchase on the night.
Nigella will be speaking at Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre on Wednesday January 24. Tickets are $45 and can be bought from the School of Life website.
