On any given night you’ll see Chin Chin-style lines outside Fitzroy North’s Moroccan Soup Bar. The reason? This tiny venue that boasts no menu, no booze and no meat, has managed to garner legendary status amongst northside locals for its epic vegetarian spread that’s both delicious and cheap.
If you bring your own Tupperware, you can even get your Soup Bar feed takeaway. It’s a stellar deal, and owner Hana Assafiri knew it. Now, Hana has opened another venue down the road that will service all those takeaway orders.
Instead of the vegetarian banquet, takeaway diners at Moroccan Soup Bar Two Go can get a variety of rice and couscous dishes, lentil dhal, chilli tahini bake, housemade pickles and Soup Bar’s famous chickpea bake for $12.50. If you bring your own containers, you’ll get it for $10.50.
More reasons to love Two Go include the fact that it’s open for lunch and you can order online. They’ve even added new items to their takeaway menu, including Moroccan-spiced flatbreads called marrakizzas which will be topped with various veggo toppings. As usual, they are very accommodating to dietary requirements with both vegan and gluten-free options.
Moroccan Soup Bar Two Go is open at 316 St Georges Road, Fitzroy North from Tuesday to Sunday 11am-3pm and 5.30-9.30pm.
