The Victorian government is easing more restrictions as Melbourne makes a safe and steady return to normal.

Here’s what will be changing as of 6pm on Friday, March 26:

  • Masks will no longer be required in retail settings (i.e. supermarkets or shopping centres).
  • However, masks will still be necessary on public transport, in rideshare vehicles and taxis, as well as in aged care facilities and hospitals (best to just keep a mask with you at all times, just in case).
  • Victorians will be able to have up to 100 people in their home per day.
  • Outdoor gatherings in public places, like the beach or the park, can increase to 200 people.
  • Venues like casinos, karaoke venues and nightclubs will be able to host one person per two square metres (which is the same rule as cafés, pubs and restaurants).
  • For indoor non-seated entertainment venues (like live music venues and dancefloors) there will be an increase from 50 per cent capacity to 75 per cent capacity, with a limit of 1,000 people per space.
  • Crowds for the AFL will increase to 75 per cent capacity.

For more information on the rule changes, be sure to check the Victorian government website. And a reminder: if you're feeling ill please get tested. Here's a list of testing sites around Melbourne
