Melbourne's tram drivers are going on strike, and trams will not run for four full hours on Friday, August 30.

The strike will happen between 10am and 2pm, and services could be affected for up to an hour before and up to an hour afterwards. There will be replacement buses on some routes, but they will not cover the entire tram network. So if you need to get around the city on Friday, maybe lace up those walking shoes, take a City Loop train or grab a taxi (we would not be surprised to see Uber surge pricing to take advantage of the situation, so consider yourself warned).

A full list of the disruptions and alternative transport suggestions are available on the PTV website.

In further city disruptions, two lanes of Flinders Street are about to close for three years.
