If you're anything like us, you're physically back at work after the holiday season, but you're mentally planning your next big overseas getaway. If you've been agonising over how to get an affordable airfare without spending a ridiculous number of hours on a plane, this is the news you’ve been waiting for. Qantas has discounted more than half a million seats on most of its international network, with super cheap flights to Paris, London, New York and beyond. Praise the travel gods.

The Qantas Red Tail sale has launched today (Tuesday, February 30) and will run until February 5, 2024 (or until sold out) – so you’ll want to act fast to score a deal. The flight routes included in the sale are some of the network’s most popular, with fares starting at $619 return for economy seats from Melbourne to Wellington and to Bali for $679 return.

Melburnians keen to venture further could score $1,799 return flights to London or New York. If you’ve always wanted to visit Hollywood, here's your chance – with return flights from Melbourne to Los Angeles starting at $1,119. Other cut-price routes in the sale include Melbourne to Delhi (with return flights starting at $949) and Melbourne to Hong Kong, with return flights starting at $979.

The reduced rates are available for certain dates between February and December this year, but blackout periods apply – so if you’re looking to cut the cost of your Euro summer in two, it's sadly not a guarantee.
