If you take the 86 tram, listen up: your tram line is going to be disrupted from June 8 to June 15, with replacement buses subbing in for Melbourne's second most popular tram route.

The disruption is to renew tram tracks and overhead powerlines along the route, which serves 290,000 people every week. The works will affect trams along Queens Parade and High Street between Drummett Crescent and Walker Street in Northcote.

If you think you're safe from disruption if you take the train, think again. There will be upgrade works on the Belgrave, Lilydale, Alamein, Glen Waverley, Hurstbridge and Mernda lines over the long weekend, with buses replacing trains during part or all of the Queen's Birthday long weekend.

And if you're getting around the city on Monday, remember that trains, trams and buses are running on a Saturday timetable.

Now that you know how to get around, here's what to do over the Queen's Birthday long weekend
