We’re close enough to Easter now that we can taste it. It seems every bakery, café and chocolatier is crafting something special this year and who could blame them? April brings out the sweetest of notes: sugar, spice and all things nice (read: lots and lots of chocolate). Below are our favourite Easter treats in town for 2025.
Churro and chocolate Easter egg from Beatrix Bakes x Melbourne Cocoa

Natalie Paull from Beatrix Bakes has collaborated with Melbourne Cocoa once again this year to craft a milk and white chocolate egg that made its sell-out debut in 2024. You'll detect festive notes of cinnamon, sweet vanilla and caramelised waffle in the delicious egg – all inspired by the flavour of churros, one of the recipes from Beatrix's cookbook, Another Slice. They’re available for a limited time only at select retailers or online at the Melbourne Cocoa website.
Hot cross doughnut from Pidapipo

Ice cream maven Pidapipo Laboratorio may tempt you to shirk the traditional hot cross bun this Easter, thanks to their heavenly, sugar-dusted 'ultimate non-hot-cross-bun'. Made to order and available exclusively at the Fitzroy Laboratorio, the fresh doughnuts come topped with fior di latte gelato and spiced caramel sauce. If these look much too decadent for your taste, never fear; Pidapipo's much-loved bags of dark and milk chocolate eggs are back in 2025 – each beautifully packed in wrapping from Studio Ongarato for that ultra-beautiful Italian design aesthetic. Why not scatter a few in your garden for a fun family Easter egg hunt? Pop into the Fitzroy location to satisfy that sweet tooth asap.
Chocolate and hazelnut-infused sparkling wine from Chocolate in a Bottle

If you prefer your Easter goodies in liquid (and alcoholic) form, why not try this bottle of bubbly? It's a French sparkling blanc de blancs infused with the essence of Belgian chocolate and hazelnut – perfect for an autumn picnic or an Easter brunch with family and friends. The aptly named Chocolate in a Bottle is a unique creation from the Flemish sommelier Tom De Bruyn, who collaborated closely with a winemaker in the south of France to craft the luxe beverage. It's best enjoyed chilled, so keep it in the ice bucket first before serving. Check out the website to make an order and explore some fun pairing ideas.
Gelato-filled Easter egg from Piccolina

It's always an egg-citing time when Piccolina launches a new delicious gelato creation. This Easter, the beloved ice cream shop has released its much loved, limited edition gelato-filled Easter eggs. There are three nostalgic flavours to choose from: Milo, Rocky Road and Golden Gaytime, each meticulously designed and handmade by Piccolina's team of pastry chefs and gelato makers. An egg will set you back $39, serves at least two to four chocaholics, and comes in a limited edition gift box. Purchase one in-store or online.
Hot cross cinnamon scroll from Penny for Pound

Out of all the delightful goodies the Time Out Melbourne team have recently taste-tested in the lead-up to Easter, these hot cross bun-inspired cinnamon scrolls stand out as one of the sweetest hits! The fluffy scroll dough is infused with spiced brown sugar, cinnamon and plimp sultanas, before getting the glaze treatment with vanilla sour cream and a cinnamon cross. This beloved bakery is always churning out goodness, but this may just be one of their best treats ever. Check out the full April collection online.
Dessert eggs from Mörk

This year, your stock standard supermarket Easter egg isn't enough and you're in the mood for something a little more bougie. This is where Mörk's brand new dessert eggs come in. These life-size chocolate eggs come with four unique dessert-like fillings: rich ganache and meringue; toasted pepita gianduja and spiced pumpkin ganache; salted caramel and brown butter biscuit; and passionfruit and strawberry gum "yolk". You can buy one individually, or grab a whole carton of six! Head to the Chadstone, North Melbourne, Queen Vic Market or CBD locations to get your hands on the lovely treats.
Autumn theme-foiled Easter eggs from Haigh's

Congrats to family-owned chocolatier Haigh's for celebrating their 110th year! They make around 4 million individual Easter eggs each season, with this year's range an ode to the changing of the seasons. Think pretty foil-wrapped chocolate goodies in Autum leaf tones – red, pink, orange, gold, green and plum purple. Not only are they a whole lot more elegant-looking than your average supermarket Easter egg, but there's an extensive Easter range available at Haigh's for filling up your shopping cart even further. Try half eggs filled with scorched almonds, mixed gift tins and more. View the whole range here.
Chocolate vanilla coloured bunnies from Phillippa's

For Easter afternoon teas and kids' parties alike, these crunchy, handmade bikkies are just the ticket. Melbourne's very own bakery queen Phillippa Grogan has perfected her recipe's blend of fine Dutch cocoa with real vanilla, plus a brightly hued, tangy lemon glaze. Since the icing is dyed with natural ingredients like radish, spirulina, carrot and pumpkin, they're perfect for kids sensitive to artificial food colourings. Browse Phillippa's full Easter range at the website.
Scotch cross bun cake from Koi Dessert Bar x Benriach

For Easter this year, Melbourne's fave new dessert bar Koi has teamed up with Benriach Distillery to create Australia's fanciest Easter treat: the scotch cross bun (um, yum?!). The rich, whisky-infused cake is layered with flavours of Benriach single malt scotch, chocolate, vanilla mousse, warming spices and currants. It just launched on April 1 so hurry up and head to Koi to get your hands on one! These are likely to sell out faster than hotcakes since they're whisky cakes!
Twilight Treasure Hunt gift box from Koko Black

This is the Easter equivalent of a chocolate-filled advent calendar for little ones, and my, is it super cute! Watch a child's eyes light up with glee as they open each illustrated door to reveal a sweet treasure inside. Each chocolate is handcrafted entirely from natural ingredients, with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives and supports 100% sustainably sourced cocoa. If you're a fan of Koko Black, be sure to pop some other treats in your order before you check-out online!
