What do you get when you blend futuristic R&B with the symphonic might of an orchestra? You - and your ears - are treated to a night like no other. See this electrifying fusion of genres unravel at the Arts Centre Melbourne on March 18, where First Nations neo-soul star Ngaiire will band together with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
The performance will draw on Ngaiire's career thus far and her latest album - the critically acclaimed 3 - arranged for the orchestra by the award-winning composer Alex Turley for a concert chock-full of soulful hits.
3 draws on Ngaiire's eclectic oeuvre and her work as a visual artist, taking us on an audio-visual journey through her ancestral villages in Papua New Guinea where she was born.
Since rising to the fore as a contestant on Australian Idol, Ngaiire has gone on to have a career that defies musical boundaries. Ngaiire's mix of electronic neo-soul, gospel and R&B pop - filtered through her experiences as a First Nations woman - has seen her win a number of awards and has seen her perform alongside the likes of Alicia Keys, Flume, Hiatus Kaiyote, Leon Bridges and Sufjan Stevens.
In joining forces with the orchestral prowess of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Ngaiire's nuanced, multi-layered performance will be one for the books.
Tickets to see Ngaiire X MSO run from $49-$109 and you can find out more and book them on the MSO website.
