Seven opera productions will sweep the Nagambie Lakes region from September 2-4 in Australia's second annual international opera festival. Three highly regarded wineries will play host to the talented members of Gertrude Opera – an Australian opera company who perform locally and across the world.
This year, a major highlight will be the world premiere of 'The Scottish Opera' by Texan composer Peter Stopschinski; an electric chamber ensemble production of Verdi's Macbeth.
Making its way to Australia for the first time will be 'To Hell and Back' by Jake Heggie, which delves into family violence. On the light-hearted side of opera will be Mozart's 'Bastien and Bastienne'.
