Time Out says

Ever since winning the Triple J Unearthed Listen Out competition in 2016, Alice Ivy has been soaring through the Australian music scene on a stellar and highly collaborative path. She’s released two studio albums since then, the second of which was nominated for an ARIA Award in 2020. Now, she’s about to head off on tour to support her forthcoming third studio album, which comes out on June 21.

Aside from being pertinent advice for a life well lived, Do What Makes You Happy is also the name of Ivy’s new album. The very next day after it comes out (namely Saturday, June 22), you can hear it for yourself at the wonderfully eclectic Fitzroy venue the Night Cat

Ivy is known for her collaborative spirit, having worked with the likes of Mallrat, Mayer Hawthorne and more for Do What Makes You Happy. In the past, she’s also teamed up with Thelma Plum, Sycco, Ngaiire and Bertie Blackman. On the night, pop, indie and electronic artist Matilda Pearl (who draws plenty of Charli XCX comparisons) will take a support slot, as will boundary-pushing producer, violinist and singer Elle Shimada.

If there’s a uniting theme to Ivy’s music, it’s that it’s all designed to make audiences happy and get them dancing. Thankfully, the Night Cat’s unique layout with a stage right in the middle of the room usually means there’s space to let out your best dance moves. Tickets for Alice Ivy are on sale now for $39.79, over on Moshtix
