What do Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Brian Jones and Jimi Hendrix all have in common? Besides the fact they were all legendary musicians who could command a room with a flick of a guitar pick, they are also all part of the 27 Club – an infamous list of talented artists who tragically passed away at the age of 27.
Experience the stories and music of these artists at Geelong Arts Centre with the show 27 Club, which is part of its brand new program Rewire. The program aims to capture the excitement and innovation of modern theatre ethos with unique art performances, from amped-up rock spectaculars and interactive pub performances to digital exposés across multiple venues in Geelong.
After receiving Adelaide Fringe Festival’s Best Music Award in 2021, this must-see show is forming again and coming to the shores of Geelong on March 23. The live rockumentary will feature Australian rock icons Sarah McLeod (The Superjesus), Kevin Mitchell (Jebediah, Bob Evans), Carla Lippis (Mondo Psycho), Dusty Lee Stephenson, Cam Blokland and Wanderers, who will pay homage to the fated members.
“Rewire is a fresh new pillar of Geelong Arts Centre’s programming, highlighting our desire to blur artform boundaries, explore new perspectives and be part of a community that embraces new diversity in all forms,” said Joel McGuinness, the CEO and creative director of the Geelong Arts Centre. “We are proud to test an exciting new program stream that responds to our loyal and growing audiences.”
