Update 19/03/20: The Johnston Collection will close from March 18 until April 14 to help manage the spread of COVID-19. Scheduled events and lectures will not run during this time. Ticketholders for these events will be contacted directly.
The Johnston Collection – which incorporates a house-museum, gallery, reference library and shop – is the legacy of William Johnston (1911-1986), a prominent 20th century collector and antiques dealer with an extraordinary eye for beauty.
The house-museum, Fairhall, has a collection of Georgian, Regency and Louis XV art and antiques regularly rearranged within a domestic setting. It offers three guided tours per day Monday to Friday at 10am, noon and 2pm. After hours tours are available on the second Saturday and third Thursday of each month. Each tour runs for about 90 minutes.
Because the Johnston Collection is located in a residential area, all visitors are collected from the nearby Pullman Melbourne on the Park Hotel in their courtesy bus. Bookings are essential.
