For one night only, the NGV’s Great Hall will spring to life with coruscating colour and live performances for the NGV Teens: Art Party. The exclusive event, held on Saturday, September 9, will invite 1,000 teens to embrace the world of French artist Pierre Bonnard as well as the bold scenography of the revered designer India Mahdavi.
The NGV Teens: Art Party will be headlined by the rising star KYE. The Zimbabwean-born, Melbourne-based singer has previously shared the stage with huge acts like Sampa the Great and Genesis Owusu and now, KYE is set to bring her floor-filling R&B and pop hits to the Great Hall.
Joining KYE is the Australian DJ Tanzer, and the K-Pop dance group NV Dance Studio will also be hosting a dance competition for teens to put their moves to the test. Inspired by Pierre Bonnard’s natural landscapes, the hair stylist James Hatton will invite teens to style their hair with colourful blossoms to celebrate the beginning of spring.
If you prefer drawing to dancing, over in the NGV Gallery Kitchen, the artist Alice Oehr will host a Still Life Drawing workshop to teach teens how to masterfully use colour and shape.
The NGV Teens: Art Party will be held at the NGV International on Saturday, September 9 from 6pm until 9pm. Tickets are available for high school students aged 12 to 18. Tickets are $25 and you can get them on the website here.
