The growing Docklands lifestyle, dining and entertainment precinct just got itself a shiny new apartment hotel – a $100 million new build, no less. Nesuto Docklands Apartment Hotel is nestled right in the middle of all the activities the waterfront locality has to offer, and by that we mean many of them are genuinely just a few minutes walk away. Depending on which side of the hotel your room is on, you might even be looking directly out at the (in)famous Melbourne Star.
There are 14 hotels across Australia and New Zealand under the Nesuto name, but the new Docklands hotel is the Japanese brand’s first foray into Victoria. It’s also a flagship hotel for Nesuto, boasting 211 rooms spanning 13 floors with views of the city skyline, the port of Melbourne and, of course, the bay.
Nesuto Docklands’ ultra-modern apartment style suites have all the practical features to make the hotel a comfortable base for your trip. The facilities are particularly well-suited for business travellers or families. There are studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites, making Nesuto a great option for group trips without the need for the hassle of booking multiple rooms.
Every suite has a full kitchen in case you’re craving a homestyle meal (side note: there’s also a Woolies right downstairs), and the one- and two-bedroom suites have a built-in laundry. However, if you want to switch into full holiday mode, there’s also a dry cleaning service. ‘Nesuto’ translates to ‘nest’ in Japanese, so it makes sense that this hotel was created to be somewhere you can really make yourself at home.
Head to the in-house gym to unwind after a busy workday, or jump straight under the luxe rainfall shower to reset. If you’ve got the kids in tow, the good news is that you’re already in the District Docklands shopping, entertainment and business complex, which is looking fresh after a 2021 renovation.
If having family friendly activities nearby is a criteria for you, Nesuto Docklands couldn’t be in a better location. The hotel is within easy walking distance from the ArtVo trick gallery, O’Brien Icehouse, Archie Brother’s Cirque Electriq, Glowgolf and Hoyts District Docklands. If you want to explore a little further, Nesuto is also close to the free tram zone and Southern Cross Station.
Time Out tip: Head next door to Daybreak Café for your morning feed. The breakfast menu is interesting without being intimidating and the option to make your sit-in coffee extra large is a blessing if you’ve got a big day ahead.
