We’re not too sure when the regular cinema experience will return to Melbourne, but for now, there’s this. A drive-in, social distancing-safe cinema is popping up in town this July.
To be honest, we’re not too sure whether this will be legal by the time it heads to Melbourne, but we’re so desperately missing a cinematic experience that it doesn’t hurt to dream, hey?
The Drive-in Movie Club promises an “immersive, cinematic experience” all from the safety of your own vehicle. You won’t have to leave your car at all to order food and movie snacks and they’ll be delivered to you.
The cinema will be screening classic films like Anchorman (Thu, Jul 23), Mean Girls (Fri, Jul 24), Dirty Dancing (Sat, Jul 25) and Back to the Future (Sun, Jul 26).
Tickets will be $35 per car (with up to five people). Food and drink add ons, includings one drink, one popcorn and one candy, will be available for $20. Screenings start at 8pm, but get there early to score a good spot.
Tickets are available here. The location has not been announced yet, with further details coming weeks.
