April in Melbourne means one thing: laughs and lots of them. The city collectively splits its sides during autumn as the Melbourne International Comedy Festival rolls through. As the gaggle of comedians descends on the city there’s one who’ll well and truly be welcoming you aboard.
Mel Buttle is returning to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival this year with a hilarious new show called Welcome Aboard. What exactly is Buttle welcoming you on board to? Well, the self-deprecating, tongue-in-cheek comedian has had a pretty busy year. Between going through a break-up, learning how to co-parent a rescue dog with her ex and sorting out an exhausting international tour, Buttle has barely had time to put her feet up and enjoy a glass of Shiraz. Hey, we never said this would be a smooth flight.
The gifted comedian with wry wit is performing every night of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (that’s March 28 to April 21 for anyone who missed the boarding call). Joining you for the hilarious sky-high show is everyone’s favourite travelling companion, anxiety, as well as far too many Red Rooster rolls. Don’t worry you won’t be travelling with any kids – but you will be travelling with the panic caused by not having any kids.
In the event of laughs oxygen will not descend from the ceiling so just remember to breathe through the guffaws. Mel Buttle will be performing Welcome Aboard daily during the festival and you can find her in the Portico Room at Melbourne Town Hall. Tickets start at $25 and can be booked online.
Thank you and please enjoy your flight.
