No longer will the people of Melbourne’s northwest have to schlep it over to Highpoint to catch a flick – Palace Cinemas have just unveiled plans to launch a 12-screen cinema complex in Moonee Ponds.

The new cinema will be developed on Puckle Street as part of a new retail, hospitality, accommodation and leisure development from Giancorp Property Group.

The new mid-rise complex will be roughly 3,000 square metres and be accessible from both Puckle Street and neighbouring Young Street. Giacorp is currently seeking an amendment to their original planning application increase the maximum height of the building from ten storeys to 18.

Palace Cinemas have confirmed their new cinema will include three platinum screens and an outdoor cinema space. “We have longed for a home in Melbourne’s west for a while now – and where better than the birthplace of Australian culture queen Dame Edna Everage!” says Palace Cinemas CEO Benjamin Zeccola.

Look out for the new complex when it opens its doors in 2019.
