By now you're probably well aware that the Andrews Labor Government has confirmed full funding – all $10.9 billion of it – for the Melbourne Metro Rail project. If all goes to plan, by 2026, we'll have an underground rail tunnel which stretches from the Domain on St Kilda Road, through the CBD and into North Melbourne via Parkville.
Everyone loves a good artist's rendition, and today Victorian premier Daniel Andrews tweeted an image of what the Parkville station will look like.

The shiniest new feature in the slick commuter's haven that is the Parkville station are the screen doors which separate the trains from the platform. A fixture in cities like London and Tokyo, not only will these doors increase safety, but they'll also put an end to the rush of cold wind that is the bane of any City Loop regular.
