The interior of Wonderland looks like the team took all the coolest Art Deco items from their Chapel Street neighbours and combined them into a slick new bar. Funky nostalgia aside, Wonderland has a lot to offer as a south side watering hole.
The friendly, casual atmosphere at Wonderland is helped undoubtedly by the bar’s large outdoor area – the largest on Chapel Street in fact. Walking off the hectic street for a beer in the garden is a welcome respite on a sunny afternoon. If beer isn’t your thing then Wonderland also has a respectable selection of wine and cocktails.
For when it’s cold and you'd rather be indoors, grab a pew at one of the bar’s comfy lounges and relax with a drink and a bite from their menu. There is a stack of small dishes to choose from like pumpkin and parmesan arancini, pulled pork sliders, fried haloumi and barbecue chicken quesadillas (any three from this menu will only cost you $25). There’s also share plates available and function spaces for those looking to celebrate.
Happy hour runs 4-7pm every weekday. That means $5 house wines, $6 schooners and house spirits and $9 pints. Jugs of beer and cider go for $15 on weekends (from noon-4pm on Saturday and all day on Sunday) and DJs spin tunes every Friday and Saturday night from 7pm.
