You don’t think of the industrial part of North Melbourne as a honeypot for Melbourne’s bar scene, but the Third Day is delightfully proving us wrong. Located conveniently beside Macaulay Station on the Upfield line, this is quite the catch-all venue: an open-air café serving sandwiches, salads and freshly brewed coffee in the morning; a cavernous space to chill out on Friday nights with food trucks and beers on tap; and on weekends it transforms for various kinds of functions and events.
Behind the bar, you’ll find a rotating selection of beer on tap, with Furphy as the house pour. Bartenders also serve up a range of house cocktails that change throughout the season. Given the open roof, this place thrives in summer. Keep an eye on the venue's social pages for monthly in-house events, too – past events have included ‘80s nights, R'n'B nights and World Cup screenings.
