The Post Office Hotel is reliable. You know just what you’ll get, and you know it’s going to be good: excellent food, laidback staff and cracking tunes (Scott Walker, Bruce Springsteen and Leonard Cohen get a good spin most nights).
Maybe it’s because the lads behind it know a thing or two about what makes a decent watering hole in this town. Tex Perkins, two members from Dallas Crane, and Danial Caneva from the sadly now defunct Duke of Windsor Hotel restored this pub, bringing back its art deco facade and warm polished wood interior.
With a cracking gastro-pub menu reflecting Coburg’s Middle Eastern culture in the adjoining Dining Hall, it's little wonder the Post Office Hotel has become a reason for inner-city folk to make the trek north on the number 19 tram.
