Time Out says

This family-orientated pub in leafy Olinda is a warm, inviting inn with a classic pub menu that's loaded with all the essentials. Seriously, what more could you ask for?

A favourite among locals and day-trippers alike, the Pig and Whistle Tavern boasts 16 taps and two traditional hand pumps. Because they regularly rotate taps there's no official beer list – just know you'll be getting an ice-cold froff regardless, and that staff are more than happy to point you in the direction of a brew that suits. There's also a solid wine and cocktail list, if that's more your tipple.

You'll want to arrive hungry, with the menu dominated by hearty dishes like chicken parmas, beef burgers, bangers and mash, slow-roasted pork belly and scotch fillet steaks. For the sweet tooths, choose from a chocolate brownie, lemon meringue pie, sticky date pudding and caramel affogato. Drool...

The Pig and Whistle gets its name from a long-term association of the terms “pig” and “whistle” with traditional pubs and inns. Kegs were once known as pigs and, in the early days, workers would often whistle while they worked to let their superiors know they weren’t drinking on the job. Who knew?

So the next time you're in the mood for a Sunday drive and long lunch, you know where to go.
