Named after a Tokyo suburb, Yarraville's Azabu Juban is a Japanese bar and restaurant that tips its hat to the Japanese culture of after-work drinks, where draught beers are accompanied by dishes of bar snacks made to share. The menu at Azabu Juban starts off fried snacks like the gobou (burdock root) tempura and renkon chips, before moving into classic izakaya share dishes like the karaage (fried chicken), gyu don, beef teppanyaki, and sashimi.
The beers are where it's at on the drinks list. Azabu serves an all-Japanese beer list including tinnies of the Yebisu Premium Malts, Hitachino Nest Red Rice Ale and IPA, and the Suntory Premium Malts, probably Tokyo's most ubiquitous brew. That said, the bar serves a generous Japanese whisky list, so order a highball with your snacks if you're in need of something to put hairs on your chest.
