Located in the Moorabool Valley in Geelong, this family-owned vineyard founded in 1982 features 60-hectares of vines planted on the rich limestone soils of the valley. Austin's specialises in single-vineyard, cool-climate wines, and with the opening of its new cellar door, you can now swing by to try heaps of the winery's delectable drops.
Housed in a converted 1960s shearing shed, the new cellar door pays homage to its previous life by keeping its original ceiling. Throughout the space, you'll find spotted gum, corrugated iron and handmade terracotta tiles that complement the colours of the outside environment.
In support of its local-first ethos, Austin's utilised the wares and labour of local trades and businesses in the renovation. The timber bar tops were made by local cabinetmaker Matt Smart of Grummie Furniture, and the hand basin in the bathroom is a bespoke product by Concrete Republic.
Connect with your friends and with nature at the bar area that enjoys sweeping views of the surrounding countryside, or book in for a picnic lunch on the property's extensive lawn. On weekends, you can also enjoy an extensive barbecue menu by Sticks and Bones.
The cellar door is open Thursday to Monday from 11am to 5pm.
