On Saturday February 11 and Sunday February 12, Juniperlooza will be taking over the Boatbuilders Yard and the historic Polly Woodside ship in South Wharf for one hell of a celebration. It’s a gin-soaked party – the one with the boat, the DJs and 22 Australian gin producers on hand showcasing their drops.

Add in some gin paddles and a food menu from the Boatbuilders Yard kitchen and you’d best book your ticket ASAP. Here’s our pick of what to do when you head to Juniperlooza.

1. Redeem your gin and tonic token

Your Juniperlooza ticket gets you more than just entry to the gin lovers’ party. You’ll also score a reusable metal straw and a Gin and Tonic token. Head to one of the Juniperlooza bars or any of the 22 gin producers on-site (think Husk Distillery, Larrikin Gin, Four Pillars and many more) to redeem your token for a refreshing G&T.

2. Attend a Talk and Taste session

Join a Talk and Taste session to hear the stories behind everyone’s favourite herbaceous spirit. These producer-run sessions are exactly what they sound like. They’re a chance to learn more about Australian gins, combined with a cheeky tasting that might just kick off a love affair with your next gin fling. The good news is that entry to Talk and Taste sessions is included in the price of your ticket.

3. Grab a slushie at the Juniperlooza Sunshine Bar

Kick off the party with a layered gin slushie from the Juniperlooza Sunshine Bar made with 78 Degrees gin – a new addition for this year’s event. It’s the perfect sunny day concoction to help you beat the heat, and we bet you’ve never drunk gin this way before. Plus, when you buy a slushie you get to play Go Fish, which gives you a chance to spin the tiny wheel with awesome gin prizes.

4. Bust a move with one of four DJs

Nothing takes a celebration to the next level like DJs on the decks. With four high-energy DJs over two days, the lineup is worthy of a ticket of its own. Come by on Saturday and treat your ears to Foura’s infectious beats and Obliveus’s mix of funk and R’n’B. On Sunday Mz Rizk will be spinning hip hop, soul and more. Agent 86 will also be on the decks on Sunday playing an eclectic mix of genres. Regardless of which day you choose, you’ll show up right on time for a boogie.

5. Check out StrangeLove’s mocktails and non-alcoholic options

Feeling like a break from the booze? Longtime Juniperlooza partner StrangeLove has you covered. The purveyors of Victorian-made premium sodas and mixers have come through with a grab‘n’go station at the StrangeLove bar. There’ll also be a premium non-alcoholic drinks and mocktail menu on offer, so everyone can get in on the party.

6. Peruse the bottle shop for your new gin crush

Be sure to head past the bottle shop before you go and take advantage of the sweet deals available. If you buy any bottle of gin from the bottle shop, you’ll be able to get a free StrangeLove mixers pack to go with it. With so many different Aussie gin producers to choose from, it’s a win-win.
