The Other Art Fair

After a small hiatus, the Other Art Fair is returning to Melbourne and everyone, not just the ‘art crowd’, is invited. The fair features more than 100 emerging and indie artists from Melbourne and beyond, with the aim to reframe what an art fair can look like – geddit? From January 30 until February 2, the fair invites you to enjoy performances, immersive workshops and unexpected experiences. You can meet the artists, raise a glass (or two) or even get a tattoo during your visit.  If you’ve been before, it’s worth noting that each year promises a fresh batch of artists hocking take-home art for all budgets, across mediums typically including painting, sculpture, installation, photography, digital art and more. This time around, the line-up includes Steve Leadbeater, Katherine Gailer x Lucy Lucy and Simone Thomson.  It’s all happening at the Timber Yard in Port Melbourne – head to the Other Art Fair website for more information and to book tickets, which will cost you $15.76 for a regular session or $42.43 for an opening night ticket which allows complimentary re-entry.  Need inspiration all year round? Wine and Cheese Fest

It's hard not to love Melbourne's annual Wine and Cheese Fest, an event that brings together all the best cheese producers, wine and cider makers and other small goods producers. And for its twelfth iteration at Timber Yard in Port Melbourne this March, it's back bigger and better than ever.  The one-day festival is set to be a 'gouda' time, with more than 50 local wineries, cheesemakers and artisan producers gathered under one roof. Learn techniques from on-stage masterclasses conducted by experienced chefs and cheesemongers and enjoy plenty of free tastings throughout the day.  This year, the likes of That's Amore Cheese, Boatshed Cheese, Milawa Cheese Company, Rob Dolan Wine and Witchmount Estate will be exhibiting their goods, among many more exciting names on the line-up. DJs and roving artists will also be around to keep the vibes high, and your little ones can hang out in the dedicated kids' zone complete with face painting, lawn games and more. Best of all, the annual Grape Stomp Competition is back. If you're up for some fun and want to try your hand at making some wine the traditional way, sign up here. Tickets to the Wine and Cheese Fest are on sale here and start at $55, and this year attendance will be split between two sessions: one from noon to 3:30pm and another from 4pm to 7:30pm. Every ticket includes free tastings, a tote bag, a festival glass and all the live entertainment on the day.  After more fine vino?
