What characterises a Wes Anderson film? Maybe it’s the quirky characters, pastel colour palette, sense of nostalgia or the whimsical and otherworldly set design. But underlying all of that, is a distinct-style that can only be recognised as very Wes Anderson. It’s why hundreds of people have accidentally captured the essence of the filmmaker in photographs of their own. It’s why you can look at any photograph from the Accidentally Wes Anderson exhibition and feel transported to The Grand Budapest Hotel, The French Dispatch, The Royal Tenenbaums or one of his many other eccentric films.
At Accidentally Wes Anderson: The Exhibition you’ll become a world traveller, discovering ten themed rooms that will remind you of Anderson’s filmography. Here’s a rundown of what to expect.
Stepping through into the first room, you'll find be introduced to Accidentally Wes Anderson's humble beginnings as an Instagram page, which now has a whopping 1.9 million followers. With exhibitions in Seoul, Tokyo, London, Los Angeles and now Melbourne – you can't help but feel captivated by the global reach of what started as a niche idea.
From doors to classic façades, you'll see that there's a bit of Wes Anderson in architecture from all over the world. Take the Ishtar Gate in Iraq for example, first conceived as a grand processional way into the city of Babylon, the beautiful blue gate's symmetry makes it a perfect addition to the exhibition.

Next, you'll find something a little more fishy with the maritime room full of nautical-themed images. Don't forget to look through the yellow telescope for a surprise and clue for what's next on your journey.
The transport and sport rooms are fascinating for their historical significance. Keep an eye out for remarkable images from real-life dystopian lands such as North Korea and the Ukraine. Then, take a break from man-made creations and get back to nature through a distinctly Anderson lens.
Of course, you'll also encounter a hotel-themed room. But we wouldn't really call it a room, more like a hallway decorated like that of a snazzy bed and breakfast. At the end of the hallway, peel back the receptionist curtain and find a brand new room just for us – the Australia room. We'll let you discover that for yourself, but we can say there will be some very Melbourne additions.

Complete your journey with a stop at the merch shop, filled with exclusive Accidentally Wes Anderson collectibles and the Adventure Cinema with video snippets of the marvellous locations you got to see throughout your journey.
