[title]Buying art, whether it’s your first piece or you’re adding to an already established collection, can often be pretty daunting. The art world has a reputation for being a tad elitist at times – it's often assumed you have to know someone on the inside to buy artwork – and even then it's unlikely you'll ever actually meet the artist.
That’s where the Other Art Fair comes in – this inclusive event is far removed from the typical invite-only, white-walled experience that most people expect. Instead, you’ll find cocktail quizzes, DJs, performances, independent creators (who you can meet IRL) and art that won’t require you to take out a loan.
In celebration of the event returning to Melbourne for the first time since 2019, a competition is running that gives you the chance to win a prize package valued at $360. Included in the swag are two tickets to the opening night, two complimentary Bombay Sapphire cocktails and $250 to spend on art.
And that’s not all: 40 runner-ups will also be selected to receive 20 double passes (a pair of tickets cost $40), which can be used to enter the fair from the Friday onwards. To enter, simply head to the website and fill out the form before 11.59pm on May 16. The winners will be chosen randomly the following day.
