Calling all avid art collectors and keen aesthetes, it’s almost time to gather up that loose change because the Affordable Art Fair (AAF) is just around the corner.
Set to be bigger and brighter than ever, the world’s largest art fair will enliven the Royal Exhibition Building with thousands of original works and vivid installations from some of Australia's best boutique galleries, as well as live painting sessions.
Running from August 29 until September 1, the Affordable Art Fair has become a cornerstone event in the city’s eclectic arts and culture scene since its debut five years ago. The AAF will allow collectors and art lovers to engage directly with featured artists and gallery owners and browse a selection of landscapes, sculptures and abstract paintings – all priced from $100-$10,000 and available to take home that day.
Exciting galleries participating in this year’s fair include Salt Contemporary, leading online gallery Bluethumb, SOL Gallery in Collingwood, Fitzroy’s Outré Gallery and Balwyn’s Art to Art. Artist collectives Femme+, Jackson Pensa Price and Highlands Artist Collective will all be in attendance. Warlukurlangu Artists, one of the longest running Aboriginal-owned art centres in the Northern Territory, will also return as access partner to the fair, with proceeds from their works going back to support First Nations artists.
The Fair’s Melbourne Director, Georgia Huestis said: "We can’t wait to return to the city that launched. Five years on, we now have three fairs across the east coast and have welcomed tens of thousands of art lovers through our doors.”
“This year, we have so much to offer with our largest gallery line up to date and immersive visitor experiences, made extra special by our 25th global anniversary. Whether visitors are seasoned collectors, art enthusiasts, or first-time buyers, our fair ensures an inclusive and enjoyable experience for all.”
Tickets are on sale now, and you can get them via the Affordable Art Fair website here.
