Time Out says

The seed of the idea behind the National Gallery of Victoria Women’s Association's (NGVWA) Art of Dining has now budded into the Art of Bloom, a new installation that will showcase a bouquet of more than twenty of Australia’s leading floral creatives and artists.

Running between May 3-5, each creative will arrange a display of blooms inspired by works currently held in the NGV Collection and transform the gallery with sculpture, porcelain and assemblages from the natural world. Floral artists involved in this event include the likes of Aimee Pradel, Kate Rohde, Paper Couture, Tracey Deep, Victoria Whitelaw, xxflos and many more.

“I will be creating a ghostly robe of deep red florals to represent the robe of Christ in Orazio Gentileschi’s painting The Mocking of Christ',” said florist Steven Gabriel Maccora. “The emotion I want to convey with the installation is the mystery of the unknown.”

Claire Mueller of Sydney floral studio Acid Flwrs will be inviting visitors to view the world in hypercolour with a display of phalaenopsis orchids in a blue, pink and orange marble effect against a dichroic acrylic mirror.

With art direction by Amanda Henderson of Gloss Creative and hosted by the NGVWA; guests can also enjoy the spectacular displays at the Art of Bloom Gala Cocktail Party on May 3, with tickets including drinks and canapes from $295.

You can buy general tickets and ones to the gala on the NGV website here
