At a time when many arts organisations have struggled to maintain their grants from the Arts Council, Bury Met celebrates a £3million award, contributing towards the development of its site and programme in 2014. It's testament to the valuable work the theatre does in its two performance spaces and with events like the Ramsbottom Festival.
Housed inside the beautiful Derby Hall, a Victorian neoclassical building from the 1840s, the Met is a great venue for local companies such as Lip Service or MaD to flex their creativity. However, the venue's stages reach far beyond drama with a packed programme including folk music, jazz, world music, poetry readings and much more.
Hopefully the new influx of funding will ensure its position in Bury for a long time to come.
