1. Dimitris

Dimitris is an independent family-run restaurant serving up Greek and Mediterranean cuisine from its home in Deansgate. According to local history, Dimitri opened his namesake restaurant after feeling inspired by his first visit to a proper Greek meze bar. Nowadays, you can head here to feast on classic moussaka and keftedes to patatas bravas and dolmades, complete with a side of live music and great vibes. On for a guaranteed evening of authentic Mediterranean-style partying.

2. Rola Wala

Rola Wala is a bold Indian street food restaurant that specialises in footlong naan rolls, bowls, and tacos with a range of curry fillings. The restaurant first started in India in 2013 and has since opened this city centre spot and a sister site in Leeds. It’s probably best known for its signature Naan Roll, which you can stiff with whatever punchy curry combinations you fancy – yes, it's every bit as delicious as it sounds. Make sure to wash it down with a Pepsi MAX for maximum satisfaction.

Gyoza Wang is a go-to for authentic Japanese cuisine in the city centre. Aside from the delightfully decadent noodle bowls to choose from (which are amazing, by the way) you'll be coming back for the gyozas. Drop by any day between Monday and Sunday for hearty comfort food in a relaxed setting. If you can't decide what to have, try the gyoza ramen – it's the best of both worlds.

6. The Pen and Pencil

Drawing inspiration from the infamous mid-20th century bar on New York's Steak Row, The Pen and Pencil leans into its American roots with a hearty menu and swish interiors that look like they’ve been lifted directly from Don Draper’s office. While you won’t spot any actual Mad Men types in the bar, you can dine like a main character as the menu offers American classics like Philly cheesesteaks, buttermilk chicken burgers and whopping breakfast plates. We dare you to try the PB&J burger when you’re next there.

7. Pancho's Burritos

Amazing food needn’t break the bank. In fact, we’d argue Pancho's Burritos is up there with Manchester’s best restaurants, and your wrap and Pepsi MAX combo comes in comfortably under £15. The owner, Enrique, grew up in Mexico City and so he brings countless family recipes to his market stall in Manchester Arndale Market. Whether you’ve got a hankering for tender pastor pork or his famous veggie chilli, you are sure to leave feeling comfortably stuffed.

Pair your dinner with a healthy side of entertainment at this American-style sports bar. Darts, pool tables, ping pong and beer pong are all on offer, making it a must for when you just want a laugh with some mates on the weekend. Alongside a selection of classic pub grub, the restaurant dishes out bottomless brunches to a disco soundtrack and 50 percent off burgers, chicken and fries on a Monday, making Shack Bar and Grill an all-around winner in our eyes.

9. Northern Social

Championing itself as purveyors of, ‘the best pizza you’ll find this side of the Hudson River,’  Northern Social is a New York-style pizza kitchen and bar with a fun-loving atmosphere. Once thought of as a gaming fad that will go away, shuffleboard is now taking over many bars around the UK and you really shouldn’t knock it 'til you try it. And if digital gaming is more your thing, there are vintage arcades to try your hand at. So, grab a slice, grab a seat and enjoy with an ice-cold Pepsi MAX.

10. Listo Burrito

Specialising in no-frills, ultra-filling meals, Listo Burrito has been a firm favourite since 2013. Select your base (burrito or nachos), choose a meaty (or non-meaty) filling and add as many toppings as you like. We're opting for smoky BBQ pork, slathered with 'devilishly good sauces'  such as the oh-so daring Flame Thrower. And if you love it as much as us, you’ve got a sister site in Liverpool to check out too.
