Solita, the Northern Quarter restaurant known for its calorie-filled culinary creations, is opening its third location this month in the former Aumbry site in Prestwich. So, here’s a taste of some of the weird and wonderful fare North Manchester diners should be prepared for.
The Christmas burger
This mammoth burger hit the headlines last year, and for good reason. Packed between the two brioche buns, the Christmas Burger featured a 6oz Angus beef and venison patty, chestnut pieces and lashings of turkey gravy. These were accompanied by deep-fried sprouts, a slice of five-bird roast and stuffing fried in panko, topped off by a candied pig-in-blanket.
Manc Rib
Paying tribute to the fast food meal, the Manc Rib was available just as its namesake came back on the menu. While it's comparatively simple as far as Solita’s creations go, it still managed to get people talking; the Manc Rib featured pork meat formed into a ‘boneless rib’ patty, topped with sweet barbecue sauce, gerkins and onions on a sub roll.

Pizza fries
Ever been unable to choose between a pepperoni pizza and a hearty portion of chips? Solita found a solution for this oh-so-difficult decision with pizza fries. And it was exactly what it said on the tin.
Breville without a cause
Another combination of two meals into one was this cheese-filled bonanza. A bacon cheeseburger was encased within two cheese toasties acting as the bun and it became one of the restaurant's most popular dishes of 2014.
Pulled pork sundae
Although many of the more unique dishes are specials, the pulled pork sundae is a permanent option on the menu. It features 60/40 mash (the ratio of potato to butter) and rooster scratchings, and, as the name suggests, it’s served in a sundae glass.

Dirty Secret
Taking dirty food to a whole new level, this special was a classic burger dipped in breadcrumbs and then deep fried. Not one for those watching their waistlines.
