Local lads North Base will be bringing their own brand of full-power D&B to Parklife on Saturday June 11, tearing things up for the first few hours on Chase & Status's MTA Stage, where the likes of Craig David, Friction and Bugzy Malone will also be doing their thing.

Ahead of the show, we tracked down North Base member DJ Silver and asked him to run us round town on a 'ten minute tour' of his favourite spots to eat, drink, shop, think and, of course, party...

What’s your favourite Mancunian phrase or word?
'Here are a few top words that can be used..... safe our kid, newtons, mint, ginnel, dibble, pecking me head, bobbins. Ah man, there are so many to choose from, but there's a few for yas!'

My favourite memory of Manchester is…
'Playing at Parklife! It's amazing! All your friends, ravers, DJ mates, neighbours and anyone in between are here for the weekend's festivities. Playing to thousands of people over two days is a memory we'll have for the rest of our lives. '

When I'm hungover and need to recover, I head to…
'BED! Get ya head down if ya hungover lad! Bed for you! Watch ya eyebrows, though, lad!'

When I have a gig and need something new to wear, my first stop is...
We'd normally go down Market Street, Footlocker of course for your kicks or JD in the Arndale. Note is a good place to go and there are some amazing shops around Oldham Street and the Northern Quarter. Manchester has too many great outlets for clothes.

When I need to have a good time, I go to...
'Loads of spots over town! Albert Hall, Sound Control, Mint Lounge, Band On The Wall, Gorilla, Antwerp Mansion, Sankeys, Live Rooms, Deaf Institute, Contact Theater, Dry Bar, Matt & Freds Jazz club (NICE). There are so, so many places to choose from.'

If I'm trying to impress a visitor from out of town, I take them to...
'Dinner first, of course! At one of the many fabulous restaurants located along Deansgate and Northern Quarter. Always feed your guests; they will love you more! Then hit the clubs and bars we've already mentioned and then maybe over to a friend's house for a chill later on that same night. We like to do things differently up here in Manchester.'

The place we go to feed the ducks and think is...
'Has to be Alexandra Park or even Platt Fields, plus you will always bump into someone you know there so bring extra feed ;).'

And finally, the best thing about living in Manchester is...
'The best thing about Manchester is the music scene! There are so many great artists doing amazing things and making waves internationally, putting our city on the map. The clubs are backing more artists from here, and the nightlife is second to none! Something is always going on in Manchester, which makes us all proud of being from the city. I even hear Johnny Depp is moving here! You know it's all love here in Manchester no matter where you're from, the doors are always open.'
