We all know some areas of Manchester are more expensive than others and a new map has been made showing which Metrolink stops have the cheapest and most expensive rent in the city.
The Metrolink Rent Map 2015 reveals the average cost of renting a one bedroom property close to every stop Manchester’s tram network – with sites in the city centre and south Manchester being rated as some of the priciest. The map, made by Digital Media Team, has been complied using data from Zoopla.
Stops within the city zone or those close to Sport City command the highest rents – with Piccadilly and Piccadilly Gardens being the most expensive at £785. Other pricey stops include Velopark which will cost you £757 per month on average, New Islington (£734), Salford Quays (£690) and West Didsbury (£598). Meanwhile, the cheapest rent close to a Metrolink stop is Oldham King Street at £297.
The map also reveals that you don’t have to be too far away from the city centre to find an affordable property – with stops on the Bury line offering speedy journeys and fairly low rents. You could find yourself a home in Crumpsall (seven minutes from Victoria) or Bowker Vale (nine minutes) for just £395 a month, or Prestwich (13 minutes) for £481 a month.
