Iggy Pop, New Order and Shaun Ryder are among musicians and stars who have joined forces for a tribute to Factory Records legend Tony Wilson.

Mancunian poet Mike Garry and music composer Joe Duddell have created ‘St Anthony: An Ode to Anthony H Wilson’, which is released today.

The accompanying video features contributors including Iggy Pop, Steve Coogan, Christopher Eccleston, Julie Hesmondhalgh, John Cooper Clarke, Shaun Ryder and members of New Order.

Wilson launched Factory Records in 1978 and propelled the careers of iconic Manchester groups including Joy Division, New Order and the Happy Mondays. He also founded the Haçienda and was immortalised by Steve Coogan in ’24 Hour Party People’. He died in August 2007 after a long battle with cancer.

The single is released on Skinny Dog Records – formed by members of I Am Kloot and Elbow – and is available for download, on CD and white vinyl 12". All editions feature artwork by Peter Saville, Ben Kelly's personal photo and a remix by Andrew Weatherall. You can purchase the track at the St Anthony website.

All profits from 'St Anthony: An Ode to Anthony H Wilson' will go to The Christie Charitable Fund.
