The infamous wall at Piccadilly Gardens, often likened to the Berlin Wall, is facing an overhaul.

It has been in place around one side of the gardens since the area was re-vamped in 2002, immediately generating dislike amongst both Manchester residents and visitors to the city, particularly on Trip Advisor. This is despite the structure having been designed by the renowned Japanese architect Tadeo Ando, who won an international competition for designs for the new-look garden.

The wall is so unpopular that calls have been made to knock it down but a makeover is the favoured option.

Now, an online petition has been started, suggesting a day in which the wall is covered in graffiti to brighten it up and take away the grey. So far there are about 250 signatures.

So, would you like to see the wall covered in street art? Even if only temporarily?

Have your say via the online petition here.
