Previously known as Plaza del Almirante, this central square in Madrid is behind Gran Vía in the first stretch of the street. In one of the side streets of the square you'll find a statue in honour of Spanish soldier Jacinto Ruiz y Mendoza, a hero of the uprising of the 2nd of May. The square is part of the Chueca barrio, and during the Gay Pride festival it usually hosts concerts and theatre performances. There's also an underground car park.
