Each creation by Ciro Cristiano, Bel Mondo's Neapolitan chef, features a star ingredient, whether it's Paolo Ruggiero's San Marzano tomatoes or Salvatore Corso's incredible mozzarella di buffala. The menu boasts everything you'd expect in a trattoria and more (in fact, there's thick-crust pizza and various combos beyond the iconic margherita). You might start with a frittatina, the cousin of croquettes with a mozzarella and prosciutto centre, and finish up with an always unmissable tiramisu.
This is one of Madrid's biggest restaurant openings of 2020, and we're not just talking about its dimensions, coming in at a whopping 900 square metres (235 of which take up the terrace). The Big Mamma group describe Bel Mondo like this: 'Conceived as the perfect mix between a summer villa on Lake Garda and a teenager's flat from the 1980s, this place is a cool breeze with a sweet ambience.'
It's definitely versatile, thanks to the multiple spaces that unfold under the same roof, makit suitable for any time of the day and in any company. There's a fireplace, an open kitchen, home-made dishes and capacity for almost 300 customers. And all in the heart of the Salamanca district.
