Located in Paseo de Recoletos, in the impressive Palacio de Biblioteca y Museos Nacionales (Library and National Museums Palace), this National Library of Spain shares the building with the Museo Arqueológico Nacional (National Archaeological Museum). The National Library is the body responsible for the deposit of bibliographic and documentary heritage of Spain. Dedicated to gathering, cataloging and conserving bibliographic collections, it holds around 30 million publications produced in the national territory since the beginning of the 18th century, including books, magazines, maps, engravings, drawings, scores and brochures. It also has an interesting digital catalog that you can consult via its website, and there you can also access the library loan service. The Library features consulting rooms where you can study or read quietly, with prior authorization. It also has a museum and an extensive cultural programme with exhibitions, talks, conferences, etc.
