Millions of women change their surname when they get married and adopt their husband's, whether it's due to tradition, social pressure, or legal obligation. It's one way many women lose their identity when they get married, and it's done as though it were something implicit in the agreement that unites husband and wife, but it's never an obligation for men. The alter ego of multidisciplinarian artist Lara Padilla is named Sra.D (MrsD), and she's out to call attention to this reality using an aesthetic of ninja warriors, kunoichis (women ninjas) and other Japan-inspired elements.
