If illustration is what tickles your fancy, then Museo ABC has got just what you need. This month, the museum is hosting an exhibition of 30 original pieces by the magnificent María Hesse. Selections include imaginative interpretations of David Bowie, Frida Khalo and 'Little Women'. Hesse's characteristic strokes and her illustrations done with gouache and ink lend a unique authenticity to the work of an artist who grew up in an environment dominated by magazines, VHS tapes and cassettes, and surrounded by idols and icons. This naive spirit, however, is sometimes clouded in her work by small doses of reality that Hesse mixes in with the help of metaphors and allegories to the adult awakening, pain and disappointment and all.
