The Mapfre Foundation reinforces its commitment to photography by dedicating its exhibition hall in C/ Bárbara de Braganza (on the Paseo del Arte, the main axis of Madrid's museums) to the discipline. The space divided into two independent floors covering 868 m2 in which four photo exhibitions by renowned masters and established contemporaries are programmed annually. Putting photography on the calendar, though, started in 2008 with a show by Walker Evans, and since then visitors have been able to enjoy works by greats such as Lewis Hine, Lisette Model, Cartier-Bresson and Paul Strand, as well as extremely talented yet lesser-known artists such as Fazal Sheikh, Ana Malagrida, Lynne Cohen and Stephen Shore.
