The Broad presents this three-part video series inspired by the late legend whose street art in ’70s and neo-expressionist paintings in the ’80s became instrinsically tied to music. Each video was filmed at the museum, surrounded by Basquiat works, and includes musicians and scholars talking about the artist’s musical impact and queueing up soundtracks broken up into three themes: Jazz and Bebop, Punk and No Wave, and Bebop to Hip-Hop via Basquiat. Finally, when the museum eventually reopens to the public, all 13 Basquiat paintings in its collection will be on view.
