Downtown's critically derided, dysfunctional sculpture is turning 40—and maybe about to have some new life breathed into it. The Triforium Project, which wishes to make the light and sound sculpture function properly again, is hosting this party and fundraising kickoff in the artwork's honor. From 4-8pm, supporters of the Triforium will gather at the base of the sculpture (corner of Temple and Main) to picnic, eat free cake and wish the sculpture a happy birthday. Speakers include Leslie Young, daughter of Triforium artist Joseph Young, and architectural historian Daniel Paul. There'll be free tours of the usually off-limits control room as well as DJ sets from dublab.
