The Oscar Concert

Thomas Wilkins conducts the L.A. Phil in a performance of suites from this year’s Oscar-nominated scores, all set to footage from the films. The evening begins with remarks from composer Michael Giacchino and director Pete Docter about the music from Pixar’s Up. The evening continues with new arrangements of score selections from the Academy Awards’ five Original Score nominees: Dunkirk, by Hans Zimmer; Phantom Thread, by Jonny Greenwood; The Shape of Water, by Alexandre Desplat; Star Wars: The Last Jedi, by John Williams; and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, by Carter Burwell.
