Each of Van Eaton Galleries’ bigger-than-the-last-one Disneyland auctions always has us marveling at their trove of rare finds—and how exactly collectors get a hold of some of these pieces. That’s particularly true for this latest one, a 1,500-piece portion of the larger “Joel Magee Disneyland Collection” that’ll go up for auction from July 17 to 19.
But before then, you can scope out the pieces in person at the Burbank Town Center Mall (201 E Magnolia Blvd). Walk into this former Bed Bath & Beyond (look for the entrance by the west garage, next to World Market) and you’ll be greeted with a wall of Disneyland maps over the years and a big box store-sized exhibition space that’s broken up into the theme park’s iconic lands. You’re bound to find something nostalgic in each familiar area, whether that’s the trio of hitchhiking ghosts from the Haunted Mansion, a Peter Pan ride vehicle, an elevator door from the Tower of Terror or a functioning set of Enchanted Tiki Room birds, among many others.
Though tags next to some of the pieces provide some context to what you’re looking at, they never quite explain how someone might come into possession of ride control kiosks, a castle turret or themed trash cans (which, as the signs point out, are now collectibles and not actually for garbage). But this isn’t really a museum-style presentation; it’s a photo op-friendly display of niche theme park artifacts that’ll absolutely appeal to Disney obsessives.
