Whether you’re new to the sport or a veteran rock climber, these fitness centers in Los Angeles have enough surface area and routes to put any skill level to the test. Rock climbing is the ultimate full-body (and mind) workout. It's a great way to combine mental problem solving with the strength you've worked on in the gym or at spin class and the balance you've gained in your yoga classes. Climbing is also a great way to meet new people who are active, outdoorsy and supportive (quite literally, if they're your belay partner!). And once you've mastered the basics? Camping trips will never be the same—you'll forever be looking for the nearest boulder to scramble up. But rock climbing gyms are a great way to get started or to keep your skills mastered until you can plan your next outdoor adventure, and L.A. has a bunch of 'em. Climb on.
