Long Beach’s Museum of Latin American Art is observing Day of the Dead with an afternoon of food, performances, shopping and all sorts of festive touches. This year’s theme is “Journey of our Ancestors,” inspired by monarch butterflies’ return to Mexico each year, which some Indigenous communities believe represents the souls of our ancestors returning. The free family festival will also host an art workshop, face painting and sugar-skull painting for kids.
