Something very eye-catching is coming to the Autry in October. The museum is hosting its second annual public art contest: an open call for submissions for a large banner that will face the 5 Freeway and L.A. River at the rear of the museum. Seven finalists who created murals addressing Californians' interactions with the environment were selected by committee, and the Autry is throwing a party to celebrate the winning artist.
Grab a ticket for the launch party on October 13 and enjoy live music from KCRW's Anthony Valadez, take a ride on a Ferris wheel, meet the banner designers, create a community chalk mural, scribble in the sky with a 3-D pen and explore the museum after hours.
